Oct 31st - RARA Annual fall fleamarket
The Regina Amateur Radio Association held its annual Fall Flea Market on October 31st, 2009.  Thanks to the generous community support from Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) we once again had the use of the excellent facilities of their North Claims Centre in Regina.  The annual RARA Flea Market was another success with about 70 amateurs attending. The club sponsors the Flea Market annually as a service to the ham community and is not a fund raising project however the event did show a slight profit, mostly due to donated items at the auction sale. The winner of the dual band handheld raffle was Malcolm VE5ZG (again this year). Word is that if Malcolm buys a ticket next year, the ticket will not be placed in the hat.

Nov 1st - RARA Annual fall fleamarket (click here for pictures)
The Regina Amateur Radio Association held its annual Fall Flea Market on November 1st, 2008.  Thanks to the generous community support from Saskatchewan Government Insurance (SGI) we once again had the use of the excellent facilities of their North Claims Centre in Regina.

As with most flea markets, the action started early as the various amateurs opened their trunks and started the loading the "treasures" from trunk to table.  Surprising, there was restraint and minimal dickering before the goodies hit the tables.

We managed to fill 9 tables this year and attracted over 80 attendees from all over Saskatchewan.  With 9 tables of amateur radio fleas to select from, there were a lots of goodies set to change hands and many found new homes at the end of the day.

We were fortunate to have representatives from Radio Amateurs of Canada (RAC) with BJ Madsen doing his final tour prior to turning the midwestern director duties over to Devon Racicot, VE5DWR and Saskatchewan Amateur Radio League (SARL) with Val Lemko  VE5AQ bearing the flag for SARL, signing up new members and getting old members to renew..

We had 4 door prize draws this year based on donnations from various vendors in the city and held a raffle for a handheld.

The door prizes went to:
Vaporiser – Stan Ewert, VE5SC
Leather Laptop bag – Bill Wood, VE5EE
RAC License Plate frame – Irene Keim, VE5IVK
RARA Crest – Garry Mehnke, VE5ZG

Our raffel...
Malcolm Mcleod was the winner of the Yeasu VX-150 hand held radio

I would like to thank those who helped me again this year make this flea market a great success.  Gord Cobb - VE5MQ coordinated the facilities.  Allan Tidball, VE5LAT handled the treasurer duties and managed the coffee pot.   As mentioned above, thanks to Doug Appleton - VE5DA our auctioneer.

Thanks to all those who attended the flea market.  I hope you will all continue the tradition and join us again next year.

Nov 3 - RARA Fall Flea Market
This year we were fortunate in that our Fall Flea Market was able to proceed. With the provincial election call the SGI facility is off limits so our Flea Market was looking for another venue. To the rescue was Karen, VA5KM & Ralph, VA5RO. They hosted the Flea Market at their residence. Ralph was clearing out a lot of amateur radio equipment and accessories and parts. I would like to thank both Karen and Ralph for the generous use of their shop and garage. Thanks for the coffee and the Doughnuts. I believe the Flea Market was well attended and that enjoyed by all.

A big thank you goes out to Bart VE5CPU for selling the tickets for the 50/50 draw. Congratulations goes out to Rick VE5RJR winner of the 50/50 draw. Thank you to Bruce VE5RC for picking up the estate sale equipment and delivering it to the Flea Market.

Last but not least,  thanks to everyone that came out to the Flea Market for making this a big success.
